Salty Senorita for trendy fresh Mexican Food and Drink
If you like fresh Mexican food seasoned with boisterous friends, you will love the Salty Senorita in Mesa. What is the focus of this Mexican cantina? Is it the food or the feisty ambience? Is it the tasty fresh Mexican food? Party atmosphere? Is it the sports bar with large screens for viewing the latest games? A place to meet up with your robust friends? Well, it’s all of these things. A reader suggested this Mesa cantina. And here’s the first impression.
Salty Senorita Fresh Mexican Cantina

The location is on “restaurant row” on S Stapley Drive just south of the Superstition Freeway. Have you ever noticed the smoky food smells when you drive down the 60 freeway around Stapley? It smells like hickory smoke in the air? You just drove by restaurant row.
There are all kinds of good places to eat on restaurant row like McGrath’s Fish House, In-N-Out Burger Mesa, and Charleston’s. Then there is this Mexican food restaurant. It must be a popular cantina because there are often people on the outside terrace having a good time. You walk in and WOW, the décor is modern and hip. They have a cute mermaid ocean theme going.

There is a bar that takes up one side of the cantina which is right next to the outdoor seating area. Music is piped in and is boisterous so it fits in with the party theme. Even in the summer the patio is comfortable when the sun is gone because of the cool water misters. You may wonder, is this place mostly for singles? Will you fit in? Customers seem to range all over in age, and there is a huge mix so if you are over 30 and married you will not feel out of place. There were even some kids in a booth with their “parental units.” The Mexican food is delicious. And priced about right based on how busy they were. Billed as a fresh Mexican cantina, you have to say they got their food right based on my visit. Has this ever happened to you, you go into a sports bar and the emphasis is atmosphere, drinks, sports, drinks, friends, drinks and then the food sort of comes in last? Well not here. The total experience is integrated at the Salty Senorita. You get fresh cooked food, a neon electric atmosphere, a frisky place to talk with friends or future fiancé’s, and giant flat panel displays to watch the latest game. All in one place. They offer a happy hour every day from 3pm to 7pm which features free chips and salsa. Yum. Then on the 5th of every month there is a party called “Cinco de Drinko” where you get happy hour all day long. The creative names are fun, like “Margarita Mondays” and “Sunset Sundays.” Prices and times are always subject to change… This one is located at 1860 South Stapley Drive on restaurant row just north of Baseline in Mesa.
